About

Hi, I’m Clara

I’m Clara Bennett, the maker behind Crochet Lark — a cozy little corner where yarn, creativity, and simple handmade moments come together.

My love for crochet didn’t begin with a pattern book or an online tutorial. It began much earlier, sitting beside my grandmother and watching her hands turn a simple ball of yarn into something beautiful.

Where It All Began

Some of my favorite childhood memories are of watching my grandmother crochet.

I could sit beside her for what felt like hours, fascinated by the rhythm of her hands. A hook would move through the yarn, one loop after another, and slowly something would begin to appear.

A blanket. A small decoration. A gift for someone she loved.

At the time, I didn’t understand stitches, tension, or patterns. I just knew there was something magical about watching an ordinary strand of yarn become something you could hold, use, and treasure.

Eventually, curiosity got the better of me.

I wanted to try it too.

My grandmother showed me how to hold the hook, how to make those first awkward loops, and how to keep going when my stitches didn’t look quite right.

And believe me, they often didn’t.

But little by little, crochet became something I loved for myself.

From a Childhood Memory to Crochet Lark

As the years passed, I kept coming back to crochet.

Sometimes I wanted a quiet project after a busy day. Sometimes I wanted to make a thoughtful gift. Other times, I simply spotted a beautiful skein of yarn and couldn’t resist imagining what it might become.

That feeling is what inspired Crochet Lark.

I wanted to create the kind of place I would have loved when I was learning — welcoming, inspiring, and filled with projects that make you want to pick up your hook and start creating.

No pressure to make everything perfect.

Just yarn, a hook, a little patience, and the joy of making something with your own hands.

Why “Crochet Lark”?

To me, crochet should feel joyful.

It doesn’t always have to be a huge project or something complicated. Sometimes the best makes are the spontaneous ones — the little projects you start simply because they make you happy.

That playful spirit became part of the idea behind Crochet Lark.

And our little bird is a reminder of exactly that: create freely, enjoy the process, and make things that bring a little more joy into everyday life.

Make Yourself at Home

So grab your favorite hook, choose some yarn, and have a look around.

I hope Crochet Lark becomes one of those places you return to whenever you need a new project, a little inspiration, or simply a quiet moment to make something lovely.

I’m very happy you’re here.

Happy crocheting,

Clara ♡
